I like the music of the Palace of Darkness, how creepy it is. For some reason I forgot it until I heard it again, I guess it’s a problem having TWO creepy dungeon themes with one being more memorable. It’s an interesting bit of backstory Hilda gives you that the guys you’re sneaking past used to be her own castle soldiers before they started to worship the evil boss of this dungeon. But that doesn’t change the fact that stealth is so nerve-wracking to me that I’m putting off what would normally be the first dungeon in the Dark World to LAST. That should really show how messed up that padding section is. It just makes me love the non-linearity of Lorule, because if you want to put off the stealth section, you can, and if you hate the ice dungeon, you can put that off, too.

Well god forbid we give the player OPTIONS and make it different from AlttP in a positive way. At least the left side of the mountain replaced the Great Fairy with fairies. Lorule’s enemies take way too many hits to kill, it’s cracked and fragmented forcing me to warp all over the place, and it doesn’t even have that much to do in it. The original had more caves and a Quake Medallion to find. The next part of the dungeon right away bored me by making me wait through floor tiles flying at me for six billion years, until finally it ended off with two sandworms. I was mashing the hell out of the B button and the tiles STILL hit me, something that doesn’t exactly happen in the original, where it was more skill-based and you could easily avoid getting hit by any of them.
